“As a female Lord Mayor of York I have worked, supported and encouraged women of all ages throughout the year in their personal and professional lives.

I see International Women’s Week as an opportunity to celebrate the lives ad contributions of women and the roles which they play within families, local communities and society in general.

International Women’s Week is poised to be hugely successful. It is my ambition that York is seen as a city which leads by example to promote and enjoy the positive and essential contribution which women make.

I hope that as Lord Mayor of York I have positively contributed by putting together a variety of events at the Mansion House and also attending many others.

I hope everyone enjoys the many different activities being offered during our 2014 York International Women’s Week.” Cllr Julie Gunnell
